Compare models, not just brand names
A brand can offer several thicknesses, interiors and cuts. A 7mm label is not a complete description, and it cannot tell you how a suit will fit your body. Start with the intended diving conditions, then compare construction, seals, reinforcement and equipment access.
This is GEDDON’s editorial comparison of manufacturer-published details, checked on 30 October 2026. It is not a hands-on performance test, and it does not identify the exact models in any social-media photograph. Scorpena and SpearPro are independent brands, with no affiliation implied.

7mm versus 7.5mm is only part of the decision
GEDDON’s proposed Start is 7.5mm; the comparison models above are listed at 7mm. That difference is not, by itself, evidence that one suit performs better. Material, fit, seals and how you use the suit all matter. Our thickness guide explains what to consider without assigning a guaranteed water-temperature range.
For trips to Norway or Alaska, compare the requirements of your actual location and season with a local operator’s advice. See our cold-water wetsuit guide for Norway and Alaska.
Look closely at the hood and storage
Compare the hood opening and seals, visibility details and how the hood works with your mask. For storage, check the location, retention and compatibility with your knife or line cutter while wearing gloves. A pocket’s presence does not tell you whether your particular tool fits or is easy to reach.
GEDDON’s proposed reflective crown, forearm sleeve and sternum line-cutter pocket are design choices to evaluate during sample testing. We are not claiming they have already outperformed another brand’s design.
Fit should decide the shortlist
Use each manufacturer’s own measurements. Do not assume an L in one brand is the same as an L in another. For a women’s cut, compare the bust, waist, hips and torso proportions; our women’s wetsuit fit guide outlines the measurements to take.
